INTRODUCTION

In Main Works, the viewer will find a selection of original paintings and drawings by Alejandro. The pieces are grouped chronologically from 2006 to the present. The decision to include older works as part of this section is based on the idea that it is important to see the evolution of Alejandro's work as he comes to grips in defining his own style. For the critical eye, the foundation of Alejandro's artistic expression lies both in his early work as much as in recent ones. These are not all the works Alejandro has created but merely a small representative sample.

 

When asked "Why do you paint?" and "What do you paint?" which is quite often,

as an artist, the simplest of answers are hardest to explain. I paint all. I paint what surrounds me. I paint what interests me. I paint nothing extraordinary or conceptually cryptic. I depict life and its reality in the here and now in our planet and it's continual evolution. All of course, as seen through my own perspective and infused with my own experience and imagination. Imagination, I feel, is the only thing which can slightly free a man's mind from his circumstances.

Being a product of the age of technology, my work is presently influenced by technology's effect on humans.
